In early January 1944, Lund’s wife received word of his status as missing-in-action since December 21, 1944. His body was later identified through his pay book, his Red Cross card, and his driver’s license.
Private Lund was originally buried at Plot WWW Row 7 Grave 132 at the US Henri Chapelle (#1) military cemetery on March 1945. His personal effects were mailed home to his wife, Mrs. Mildred Premeaux Lund. The items included souvenir coins, 2 rings, a rifle medal, a folder with pictures, a wrist watch, a prayer book, a cigarette case, and a pencil. His body would later be moved in July 1945. His final resting place is Plot A Row 9 Grave 50 at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Plombières, Belgium.
